I’m A Junkie
One of two classic Greek songs from the early 1930s with the same title, part of a small sub-genre exploiting a sensational subject: the introduction to the Greek underworld of that dangerous and forbidding new (for that time) drug, King Heroin (“Preza”); (To further complicate the substance-abuse, this particular tune also crops up with the same lyrics in a PG-rated version that substitutes Ouzo for Preza). Here, for obscure yet oddly appropriate reasons, the Judas Crew are inspired to also give melodic props to one of the few modally-oriented English rock stars to NOT have dabbled in the big H. (as far as we know…)

Once you get stoned, you get yourself straight- as a King, dictator, Lord-and-emperor Hey, take that dope and you’ll get real high, from then on you’ll see a rose-colored world! All of Greece is mine - but you gotta laugh at how the country’s wound up- missing one leg that she lost in a dice game! Hey, what of it, I’ll become Dictator, and the world can turn to ashes- one guy will light my water-pipe, and the next guy will put it out.”
