Originally, this was a Northern Greek wedding tune, in hillbilly-style 7/8 time, traditionally danced by bridesmaids (the “companions” of the bride) in the province around Kozani, where it’s often played by local Greek brass bands. Greek Judas, here, nobly channel the mountain-hard rock guitar gods of bucolic festivals of aeons past.
